A blessing to start the project

After months of preparation, the Humuʻula Groundwater Research Project (HGRP) is about ready to begin!  Today Reverend Daniel Akaka Jr. performed a blessing ceremony at the drill site.  Principal Investigator Donald Thomas and Lt. Col. Rolland “Chris” Niles were both part of a ceremony that emphasized the benefits of this project for Hawaiʻi's people and future.
Also in attendance were members of PTA biological, environmental, and cultural management, as well as drilling and core processing team members.  Stay tuned for more updates once drilling begins in March!
